Agritopia is a very unique community found in Gilbert, Arizona. Located at Higley and Ray Roads, just off the 202 freeway, this neighborhood prides itself on the lifestyle and diversity it offers residents. If you drive through Agritopia, you will not see the typical block fencing found in most subdivisions separating each home from the next, but rather, shorter white vinyl fencing to allow for more interaction with neighbors. Big front porches and tree-lined streets give the neighborhood a friendly feel, with wide sidewalks and walking trails throughout, including a handful of playground areas and wide open green spaces. Most lots are smaller in size and many homes do not have private pools due to the smaller lots, but Agritopia has a community pool and a clubhouse for residents to use and they are encouraged to do so. The neighborhood has a very “Craftsman” feel with the architecture of the homes being both classic and timeless. Front yard maintenance is taken care of by the HOA, so residents do not have to worry about mowing or pruning their front yards!
One of my favorite neighborhoods in Gilbert is Agritopia for it’s unique flare and overall feel! Homes are designed with a “neighborly” attitude in mind to encourage community! And who doesn’t love Joe’s Farm Grill and The Coffee Shop? And to live within walking distance of both would be a HUGE bonus.
Agritopia will be growing again with a new downtown district called Epicenter completing the final piece of the master plan. The new Epicenter will bring additional restaurants, local artisan shops and even a brewery! Backyard Taco has also been announced, stay tuned to find out what else will be coming to Agritopia!

Out of the 160 acres of land occupied by Agritopia, there are 16 acres that are dedicated to agricultural purposes, gardens, livestock including sheep and chickens, fruit trees, The Coffee Shop and a farm-to-table restaurant called Joe’s Farm Grill. All of these wonderful amenities are within walking distance of your front door if you live in the neighborhood. There is also a farmer’s market stand that sells the produce grown right in Agritopia’s own backyard. The New York Times recently published an article featuring Agritopia and the trend towards “agrihoods” which the Times defines as residential housing developments with a working farm as the central feature. Unlike golfing communities or lake subdivisions, Agritopia is built around a farm. For a more detailed history and founding of the neighborhood, please visit: Agritopia’s Story
Another unique addition to the neighborhood is Generations at Agritopia which provides senior housing options right in the heart of the community. From independent living to assisted living and memory care, “Generations offers freedom for embracing the present while celebrating the past.” Generations opened in Spring/Summer 2014 and if you are interested in finding out more, please contact the leasing center for details.
You truly will not find another neighborhood like Agritopia in the East Valley of Phoenix. Homes in the neighborhood don’t come available on the market very often, and when they do, they often sell fairly quickly.
